NCE Challenges

  • Economic Vulnerability: Many member countries depend heavily on climate-sensitive sectors such as agriculture, fishing, and tourism. They are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, which can disrupt these sectors and exacerbate poverty.

  • Lack of Infrastructure: Insufficient infrastructure for renewable energy, transportation, and water management limits the ability of developing countries to transition to a low-carbon economy efficiently.

  • Capacity and Expertise: There is often a lack of technical expertise and capacity to implement climate-friendly technologies and policies. This gap can impede progress towards sustainable economic practices.

  • Policy Frameworks: Inconsistent or inadequate policies and regulatory frameworks can create barriers to sustainable business practices. Effective governance and long-term planning are essential for fostering a climate-resilient economy.

  • Dependence on Fossil Fuels: Some WSA countries may have economies that rely on fossil fuel extraction and consumption, making it challenging to transition to renewable energy sources without risking economic stability and jobs.

  • Social Inequality: Marginalized populations may be disproportionately affected by climate change and have limited access to resources that allow them to adapt and build resilience. Ensuring inclusive growth is crucial.

  • Global Market Access: Almost all our countries may face challenges in accessing international markets for green technologies and sustainable products, limiting their ability to benefit from the New Economy of Climate.

  • Climate Change Adaptation: Developing countries often lack the resources and support to implement effective adaptation strategies, making it hard for vulnerable populations to cope with the changing climate.

Eco-Friendly Sports Initiatives: Establish sustainable facilities and infrastructures for sports that utilize eco-friendly practices. Advocate for the integration of environmental considerations in youth sports programming, event management practices, and competitions, ensuring that all sports activities minimize their environmental footprint.

Community and Economic Benefits: Facilitate the creation of high-integrity nature-based carbon credits through conservation efforts that support local livelihoods and community well-being.
